Government of West Bengal now organizing every year a fair or mela at Kolkata on Sarees and Dress Materials produced in various parts of Bengal. Its a Government sponsored Mela aiming to help various SHG (Self Help Group) and Tant Weaver (Tanti) community of Bengal. This year (2018) Tanter Haat is coming in Central Park Mela Ground, Karunamoyee, Salt Lake. Mela opened on 30th August 2018 and will continue till 23rd September 2018. It has stalls from various districts of Bengal and having a fabulous spread of Bengali Sarees, Dress Materials, Men’s Punjabis and Unisex Jackets. So this mela is a must visit for all who are willing to do Puja Shopping or restyle their fashion statements. These traditional handloom sarees are woven on a shuttle-pit loom made from ropes, wooden beams and poles. The shuttle works very uniquely which helps to produce different patterns of saree which vary in size and quality and gives the nation such a satisfying traditional outfit.
