KOLKATA: Jadavpur University understudies started a sit-in on Monday outside the Aurobindo Hall to challenge arrangements of a bill that adequately breaks down the understudies unions.
The upsetting understudies are requesting quick denial of the bill, which had been passed in the West Bengal Assembly a year ago.
"The bill will turn the fairly chose understudies unions repetitive and vest all experts on the college official committee, which can't be permitted under any conditions," a representative of Arts Faculty Students Union (AFSU) said.
The individuals from AFSU and Faculty of Engineering and Technology Students Union (FETSU) sat before the Aurobindo Bhavan of the college, as the official committee individuals including the bad habit chancellor (VC), professional VC and enlistment center were in a gathering inside.
"The college will dependably take the understudies in certainty and never contradict any equitable development, yet we don't have anything to do with the bill. We have just imparted the conclusions of understudies to the Higher Education Department," Vice Chancellor Prof Suranjan Das said before entering the gathering.
